Despite different computerised approaches have beenhardwired to solve various complex practicalproblems, few are founded on an adaptive paradigmsuch that a computational model interacts with itsenvironment, loosely wires itself and learns fromexperience like humans do. This book presents ourattempt to craft a computational model that learnsfrom interactions and adapts based on its experience. We draw ideas from cognitive psychology in relationto human experiential learning, particularly thenotions of "situatedness", "constructive memory" and"concept formation". When applied to designactivities, which are intrinsically dynamic andinteractive, this model constructs concepts frominteractions between the agent, the design problemand the use of the design tool. Such a designinteraction tool generates knowledge based on theagent's grounded generalisation from contextualinformation in a situated manner. Adaptivebehaviours emerge from coupled interactions of thesystem from a macroscopic and a microscopic level.This book is suitable for researchers and studentsinterested in pursuing computerised approaches basedon cognitive science and natural computing.
