Her father, who was engaged in the mercantile business, at the time of her birth, shortly after that period, moved to a small country place, located near Mason, Warren County, Ohio, where the subject of these brief memoirs spent most of her Childhood's days.Being of a sensitive and shrinking disposition, she attended the District School but seldom, but grew up in quiet and seclusion, apart from the companionship of children, except that of her brothers, who were younger than herself, under the instruction of her moth er.
