Excerpt from Alcohol, Alcoholism and Crime: A Conference at Chatham, Cape Cod, June 6-8, 1962It is a pleasure to represent Governor Volpe on this occasion. This was a case where the Governor Sincerely intended to be here because he is very much interested in the program, having issued a public statement regarding the importance of this conference concerned with the relationship between alcohol ism and crime, and in particular the role that alcohol plays in the total crime problem. He also emphasized to me that he was very pleased to see such a demonstration of Oooperative activity on the part of several State agencies. The Governor is sincerely interested in those phases of Governmental operations which are concerned with human problems.
