It behoves him, therefore, to learn that language in such a manner as to gain respect for his message, whether it be delivered in a spoken or written form.For the latter, he may be inclined to trust entirely to his Chinese pundit, but both he and his message will command the greater respect if he be able, with his own pen, to write with some degree of ¿uency.
