Dutch Tiles of the XV-XVIII Century

Angebote / Angebote:

Excerpt from Dutch Tiles of the XV-XVIII Century: Collection of Eelco M. VisDe Geus states [the Connoisseur, No. 242, October, -1921] that Mr. Eelco M. Vis, who resides in Amsterdam, undertook the formation of the collection with the assistance of the Dutch expert, Mr. H. Hamer. Many years were spent in the work and in the assembling of a representative group of tiles covering a period of nearly four centuries. The collection has been studied by this writer in a number of articles [see bibliography, infra], it has been exhibited in the Stedelijk Museum of Amsterdam in 1919, the beautiful water-color drawings of the tiles were on exhibition at Cooper Union, New York, in 1925, and through the courtesy of Mr. Vis a number of important examples has passed through his hands into the possession of the Rijksmuseum, the Lambert Van Meerten House in Delft and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, Mr. Vis retaining, in the majority of instances, at least one panel of each kind. In this manner the Vis collection has become internationally famous.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
