Wenn Menschen sterben, stellt dies für Angehörige und Freunde eine Zäsur dar. Sie trauern. In dieser Situation treffen sie mit professionellen Ritualleitenden in Bestattungsgesprächen aufeinander, um vom Leben und Sterben zu erzählen und um den Abschied zu gestalten. Durch den Wandel der Bestattungskultur sind Bedeutung und Komplexität dieser Gespräche gestiegen. Die Gestaltung einer Bestattung soll besonders, soll biographisch passend sein. In dieser qualitativ-empirischen Studie wird gesprächsanalytisch untersucht, wie erzählerische und ritualgestalterische Bezugsprobleme von den Beteiligten kommunikativ gelöst werden und welche Konflikt- bzw. Lösungspotenziale bestehen. Dies zielt auf die Arbeit an einer empirisch grundgelegten Praktischen Theologie des Bestattungsgesprächs.[Storytelling and Designing. In this situation, the bereaved consult with professional ritual guides to narrate stories about life and death as well as to design the farewell ritual. Due to the change of funeral culture, the significance and the complexity of these encounters have grown immensely because the design of a funeral is supposed to be special. In this empirical study, the author uses conversation analysis to examine how the interactants solve the problems of how to tell a life story and how to design a coherent ritual. Through this, the study aims to contribute to the practical theological reflection of consultations prior to funerals.
