Excerpt from Farm Income Situation: July, 1968Livestock and livestock product receipts were estimated at billion in the first 6 months of this year, com pared with billion a year earlier. Livestock and product prices averaged about 2 percent higher, and the total volume of meat animal, dairy, and poultry products marketed was just above the january-june 1967 level. Receipts from meat animals were substantially higher than a year ago reflecting a strong demand in the face of ample supplies. Dairy product receipts also ran larger than in 1967, as higher prices paid by milk plants and dealers more than offset a smaller volume of milk marketed. Poultry and egg receipts in total were down from a year earlier as egg and turkey prices averaged lower due to plentiful supplies in the early months of this year.
