Excerpt from Fifty Years of Medical Progress, 1873-1922I feel bound to enter a word of protest against men who have lost their didactic powers continuing to hold professorial posts in our medical schools. During my time at Edinburgh there were two of the professors who should have resigned some years previously, and whose teaching was a farce. The student, however, was compelled, by the regulations of the college, to attend the classes of these professors - an absolute waste of time! An excellent Bibliography of Medicine is contained in Garrison's History of Medicine, a model of literary workmanship, from which I have Obtained much information.
