Excerpt from Handbook on Mothers' Aid Section 1. That the boards of county commissioners of the several counties of the State are hereby. Authorized, in their discretion, to make an allowance to any eligible mother (as hereinafter explained and defined) for her support, where she is left with a child or children under fourteen years of age, under the conditions hereinafter set forth. Sec. 2. That the county board of charities and public Welfare of any county, after investigation by the county superintendent of welfare, may determine what amount within the pro-visions of this act is advisable for the care of a child or children, and Shall recommend to the board of county com missioners that an appropriation be made for the support of such mother and child or children under fourteen years of age.
