The second movement looks back almost 1000 years to a Native American town in "Mists on the Mounds, " a lyrical and delicate piece. The final movement, "Speedway Sensation, " is a fast piece that pays tribute to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Indianapolis 500. The relentless pace of the race is represented by broken octaves in a walking bass line.
