Excerpt from Nazareth Orphans' Home: Founded August 13, 1903, Opened December 2, 1906, A Home for Orphan Children, Age 5 to 18, Under the Southern Synod of the Evangelical and Reformed ChurchA Vision! Out of it has come Nazareth Orphans' Home. Faith in the ability and willingness of the Church to be as a father and a mother to her boys and girls who had none. There was no land, no buildings, no charter, no Board of Managers, no Superintendent. The seed-idea had been planted two years earlier at the annual session in Lower Stone Church. In 1899 the Classis adopted: It is the sentiment of the Classis of North Carolina that something definite should be done with reference to the orphans of our Church - Resolved, that a committee of three be appointed to investigate the feasibility of the establishment of an orphans' home for our Classis.Prior to this meeting of the Classis an article in the!
