The current interest in the reform Of our patent law had its origin in the concern of the President in 1965 that the patent system was not adequately equipped to promote scientific and technological ad vances in the context Of today's world. As we all know, this is an age of rapid and accelerating change, and we must see to it that our patent system is efficient, flexible, and will advance rather than hinder the spread of new technology.
