Seneca's Morals of a Happy Life, Benefits, Anger and Clemency

Angebote / Angebote:

Seneca the Younger (c.4 BC-AD 65) was a Roman Stoic philosopher, statesman and dramatist of the Silver Age of Latin literature who was forced to take his own life for alledged complicity in a plot to assassinate Nero to whom he had been tutor and later advisor. His philosophical writings include a dozen essays and over a hundred letters dealing with moral issues. This English translation of a selection of these philosophical works was made by Sir Roger L'Estrange (1616-1704), a pamphleteer, author and staunch defender of English Royalist claims who was involved in political controversy throughout his life. First published in this translation towards the end of the 17th century and reprinted from an American edition of 1882 which includes the translator's preface and biographical note.
