Excerpt from The Auditors' Report of the Receipts and Expenditures of the Town of Southbridge, for the Year Ending March 3, 1856AT a town meeting, held April 23, 1855, the undersigned were chosen a Committee to audit the accounts of the town for the year ending March, 1856, and to have them printed for distribution at the annual March meeting.The Committee have attended to the duty required of them. They have examined in detail, all the items in the accounts of the Treasurer, Selectmen, Overseers of the Poor and School Committee, and compared them with each other, to detect any error Which might have occurred in any of the accounts. They found them correct. The accounts are made up to the 15th instant. They have also included estimates of the expenses of the poor to the fifth of next April, when the contracts for their support will close.
