Excerpt from The Colonial Echo, 1935Dr. Julian Alvin Carroll Chandler, presi dent of the College of William and Mary from July 1, 1919, until the time of his death, May 31, 1934, was born at Guineys', Caro line County, Virginia, October 29, 1872. He was the son of Joseph A. (m. D.) and Emuella Josephine (white) Chandler. Af ter receiving the degree of Bachelor of Arts in the same institution in 1892, he attended Johns Hopkins University, where in 1896 he received his Ph. D. Degree. In 1904 he re ceived the honorary degree of L. L. D. From Richmond College.
