Rogers, who was himself a college professor, the brothers educated at William and Mary College, Sketch of James Blythe Rogers, a great chemist and Professor of Chemistry in the University of Pennsylvania, William Barton rogers succeeded his father as professor in William and Mary College, dominant family tendency led him into natural science, a strong and original investigator, first State Geologist of Virginia, the first scientist to read, describe, and publish to the world the true rock strata of America, divides the honors with his brother, Henry, his reports did incalculable service to science, and were of inestimable value in the development of Virginia's natural re sources, professor in the University of Virginia, his works on sci entific subjects of various kinds, his last years spent in Boston, Henry Darwin Rogers made Professor of Geology in the University of Pennsylvania while comparatively young, appointed State Ccolo gist of New Jersey before he was twenty-seven years old, made geo logical surveys of New Jersey and Pennsylvania while his brother William was engaged in doing the same service for Virginia, all four brothers engaged in the same kind of work simultaneously, noviii.
